Hi,
Since you mentioned that it works fine in the new user account, it indicates some corruption with your current user profile.
The best resolution in this case would be to migrate your current user account to the new account so that you get all your settings in the new profile and then remove the old account.
You would even be able to get name of the new user account set same as your existing account.
You may follow suggestions available on one of the articles on Mac help - OS X: Manually migrating data from another Mac or contact Apple support for assistance in getting this done.
