i ready do not think is the problem is due to the issue you have mentioned. i have been using LR3 to LR5. i have imported countless files using my D700 connected to my computer and import the files to my external hard disk via Lightrooom import module. Even ppl accidentally import to a different folder, the process of import will still start and not give a error message.
anyway, i have got myself a card reader and have since copy my photos to the external hard disk and import "add" them into lightroom and it works.
this can only mean that the interfacing part between LR5 and my D700 is having issues..or my D700 need to be send for servicing. for now, i will give this problem aside and get back to my editing and left this problem to next time i have to import file ..hopefully there will be some good suggestion by then, or i may have solve the problem and let you all know about it.
